Leisure-net launches active-net Australasia
The Australasian health, fitness and leisure sector is set to benefit from a new, tried and tested networking event with the launch of active-net in Melbourne on 27 and 28 July 2016.
Managed by leading UK industry insight specialist, Leisure-net Solutions, the event will bring together operators and suppliers for high-level business-skills workshops and business-focused networking at the Novotel St Kilda.
active-net has already enjoyed two successful years in the UK and now Fitness Australia is putting its weight behind the Australasian event as the official partner. Other supporters include unisport, Exercise New Zealand, the Australian Leisure Facilities Association (ALFA) and Aquatics and Recreation Victoria.
Lauretta Stace, CEO of Fitness Australia says: “We want the fitness industry to make better connections for a stronger, well-connected and effective industry. That’s why we’re bringing this one-to-one networking series to Australia.”
Similar to the UK event, active-net Australasia will comprise of 16 one-to-one business meetings between suppliers and operators, as well as a networking lunch and dinner and an educational thread with a keynote speaker and workshops, including an industry leaders’ question and answer panel.
Well known business and leadership thought leader Justin Tamsett, Managing Director of Active Management, will be chairing one of the panels. He said: “Finally Australia is catching up to the rest of the world! active-net is wonderful opportunity to speak directly with suppliers and ask the questions you want answered and will allow networking between niche’s within the fitness industry. Of course, the educational value will strengthen attendees businesses too, and I am excited to be part of the inaugural event.”
Mike Hill, active-net organiser and Director of Leisure-net Solutions says: “We are very proud to be working with Fitness Australia, unisport and Aquatics and Recreation Victoria to host this event. We have had a great initial reaction from Australian operators and suppliers, but also companies from the UK who have attended our UK event and are exploring cost effective ways to expand into the Australian and New Zealand markets.”
Places are available for 50 suppliers and 50 operators and active-net Australasia will be free for senior managers/directors to attend, thanks to the generous support of leading suppliers in the sector.
MYZONE is one supplier already confirmed for the event. Michael Jordan, Director of MYZONE Asia Pacific said: “After hearing great feedback from the MYZONE team in the UK, we were very excited to learn that active-net and the ‘buyer meets supplier’ speed meeting concept was heading to Australia and we quickly jumped on board. For a supplier, having two days of focused, uninterrupted, quality discussions with the leading operators in Australia and New Zealand is a superb and unique opportunity.”
