The Spa at Beckenham reopens its gym after a complete facelift
Mytime Active is proud to announce that its gym at The Spa at Beckenham has reopened following a £400,000 facelift. The charitable trust has created a standout new gym experience as part of a long-term, multi-phase investment plan.
The refurbishment is part of Mytime Active’s mission to offer state-of-the-art, high-end health and wellness facilities to the people of Bromley and beyond over the coming years.
CEO Jason Stanton says: “Our priority remains to invest in our services and assets, continually upgrading facilities to ensure we have the very best equipment there is to offer. As a charitable trust, we don’t have shareholders, so all profits are reinvested back into the community and into creating industry-leading facilities, to help local people improve and maintain their health and wellbeing. We hope the gym refurbishment at The Spa will encourage even more people to try out the enhanced facilities we have to offer.”
State-of-the-art new gym kit… available to everyone
The refurbishment has seen the creation of a series of zones, using different coloured lighting to vary the experience by changing the atmosphere and help users naturally flow through the gym. Light blue lighting, for example, signifies health-orientated training, while purple is cardiovascular equipment and dark blue is free weights.
“The new layout and lighting have been carefully considered to minimise any ‘gym intimidation’ and encourage progression once members are more comfortable with the gym floor setting and equipment,” adds Stanton. “The zonal lighting simplifies navigation and has been selected based on a psychological match to the activity being undertaken. Lighting can really make a difference to the focus, energy and mood of a fitness space.”
As well as a state-of-the-art Concept2 SkiErg®, originally designed as a training tool for cross country skiers to work legs, core and arms, the gym has a Hammer Strength self-powered HD Tread. It’s made of seriously sturdy stuff and is tough enough to handle even the most demanding HIIT workouts, as is the Life Fitness Air Bike, which uses a fan blade to produce resistance. The harder users work, the more resistance is produced.
A new Power Plate uses PrecisionWave™ Technology to send tiny vibrations through the body up to 50 times a second. These micro vibrations activate muscles up to 138% more than a standard workout. Finally, the eGym equipment is designed for specialist strengthening and toning. Every workout is personalised for each user, so after a simple set up, the equipment knows the user and adapts to their body and goals.
Mytime Active has also launched new Group Training classes in the gym – a great way to get to know the new kit in action and boost fitness. These small, bookable classes will help increase interaction and exercise education, and help people get the most from their workouts, as well as creating an alternative training environment for people who aren’t keen on conventional group exercise classes.
