Institute of Swimming and Fin2Fit CPD gains CIMSPA Accreditation

The Institute of Swimming’s partnership delivering Fin2Fit’s Mono-Fin CPD training has gone from strength to strength with the CPD gaining accreditation from CIMSPA.

Swimming teachers who have gained their Fin2Fit CPD are able to deliver Mono-Fin Mermaid and Shark lessons and parties, as a new and exciting approach to keep children interested in swimming.

Natalie McGuire, Business Development Manager, Institute of Swimming says: “We are thrilled with the continued success and growing popularity of the Fin2Fit Mono-Fin Mermaid and Shark classes across the UK.  The Institute of Swimming has recently completed training for 12 further course tutors, who will be delivering the Mono-fin CPD for swimming teachers, with numerous dates and venues for training already released for 2020 and available to book on our website.”

Emma Longden, Owner, Fin2Fit, says: “We are extremely proud to have successfully gained accreditation from CIMSPA, the professional development body for the UK’s sport and physical activity sector. Fin2Fit’s central ethos is to encourage children to keep swimming, to re-engage with children who aren’t currently swimming and also to encourage adults to get swimming with our fun and exciting programme. This sits firmly alongside CIMSPA’s vision of supporting and enabling professionals and organisations to develop and succeed in the sport and leisure industry and to inspire our nation to become more active.”

Fin2Fit offers the UK’s only Swim England-accredited Mono-Fin classes, along with a Mermaid & Shark Award Scheme programme for children, creating an exit route for the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme. Pupils can join a Fin2Fit class once they have completed Level Five in their Swim England Learn to Swim Awards.  They are then taken through from a bronze to gold award, with the potential to go on to synchronised swimming and Fin Clubs.

Longden continues: “Critical to the success of Fin2Fit’s approach is the progressive awards programme, aligned to the Swim England Learn to Swim Awards. Fin2Fit already has a Water Safety Partnership with Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS), which not only ensures the Fin2Fit programmes, products and fins are water safe, but guarantees the delivery of valuable lifesaving skills through the sessions too.”
