Trafford Leisure creates new Head of Health Outcomes role to help borough move more

Trafford Leisure is searching for a Head of Health Outcomes, a distinctive new role within its Executive Team, designed to directly address inactivity, social isolation and persistent health inequalities across Trafford.

 

Unlike more traditional leisure management positions, the unique and highly specialised role will bridge the gap between physical activity, public health, local authorities and the NHS.

 

The new Head of Health Outcomes will translate Trafford Leisure’s corporate strategy of ‘Improving Health Outcomes for All’ into measurable community impact by overseeing targeted health intervention programmes, expanding referral pathways and proving the direct link between active lifestyles and long-term physical and mental wellbeing.

 

Jo Cherrett is the CEO of Trafford Leisure, a community interest company wholly owned by Trafford Council, which manages leisure in Trafford on behalf of the council, using any profits and assets for community benefit. She says: “In Trafford, too many residents face barriers to physical activity, missing out on the preventative health benefits of moving more. Health equity is at the heart of everything we do and the new Head of Health Outcomes will play a pivotal role in securing external funding, grant investments and commissioned services to expand crucial health programmes to the communities that need them most.”

 

The senior level role is a part-time position operating three days per week with hybrid working options, based out of Trafford Leisure’s Head Office in Altrincham.

 

Cherrett continues: “We want to attract people with a strong track record in public health and leadership, alongside proven experience collaborating with the NHS and securing external commissioned income. They must combine strategic vision with the ability to turn data into clear evidence of social and health impact.

 

“Due to the part time, flexible nature of the role we hope to find experienced leaders who might be seeking a better work-life balance, including those returning to the workplace or managing caring responsibilities.”
