Third Active Communities Conference to examine how to deliver sports strategy outcomes

A one-day conference to examine how operators and active communities teams can increase participation and reduce inactivity in line with the Government’s latest sports strategy will take place in October.

Making it Happen, the third Active Communities Conference organised by Quest, Sport England’s industry improvement and quality assurance model, will see input from high profile speakers such as Sport England’s Head of Research & Evaluation, Darcy Hare.

“Hare will talk delegates through the new Sport England Evaluation Framework, making this compulsive listening for all concerned with the promotion of Active Communities,” said Paul Brivio, Head of Quest for Active Communities.  “The event will also enable new and existing Quest clients to explore the opportunities presented by the new, improved Quest Active Communities Assessment scheme.”

Also taking to the stage will be Neil Watson, Director of Head of Programmes at research and technology company Substance, as well as Jane Ashworth and Gary White from StreetGames, the sports charity helping disadvantaged communities, and Steve Towns and Mark Fosbrook from the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS).

Programme highlights include:

•A key note address from Sport England, StreetGames and Places for People on working ‘Towards an Active Nation for All’

•Interactive workshops around the new, improved Quest modules and cutting edge work to address inequalities and deliver high quality outcomes

•A presentation from Mark England, the British Olympics Association’s Chef de Mission at the 2016 Rio Olympics, on the lessons since London 2012 and how they could be replicated in the leisure sector
