Sector leaders to discuss new government Sports Strategy at active-net 2016

A high-powered industry panel will discuss and debate the industry’s response to the Government’s Sporting Future – A New Strategy for an Active Nation at this year’s active-net, taking place at Loughborough University on the 27th and 28th of April.

Sport England’s Property Director, Charles Johnston, will make a presentation on Sport England’s response to the new strategy before joining an industry panel including Mark Allman, Chair of CLOA, Vince Mayne, CEO of BUCS and Phil Rumbelow, CEO of Jubilee Hall Trust and Vice-chair of sporta.

The session will be chaired by Mike Hill, Director of Leisure-net Solutions, the leading customer insight provider for the active leisure sector and organiser of the active-net event. The panel will discuss the challenges facing the sector in adopting and adapting to the new strategy.

Hill commented: “We are very happy to have such a strong panel to debate this important new cultural change facing our sector, and I look forward to the active-net audience hearing some lively and informative discussions.”

Following the industry panel, delegates will have the choice of two breakout sessions. David Minton, Director of the Leisure Database Company, will talk about the ‘Blue Dot’, explaining how our phone will know more about our fitness/health going forward than any personal trainer or leisure centre, while entrepreneur coach, John Grisby, will explain how organisations can keep entrepreneurship alive and thriving as their organisation grows by understanding the Company Lifecycle and ‘why companies age’.

Limited places are still available for senior operators of health, fitness and leisure facilities, as well as suppliers to the sector. active-net brings together over 100 leading operators and suppliers within the active leisure sector for business-focused, pre-selected one-to-one meetings, together with informative educational slots, networking lunches and an evening meal.
