Retail giant Sports Direct chooses Gladstone as its software provider

Sports Direct has chosen Gladstone Health and Leisure as the software supplier for the roll out of its health and fitness clubs sportsdirectfitness.com. The three-year contract will see Gladstone assist the retail giant’s roll out of sites, which so far includes 13 former LA Fitness clubs, as well as gyms above its stores.

Gladstone set up a hosted management software system and website for Sports Direct Fitness.com in just two weeks when the LA Fitness deal was rushed through, ensuring a seamless transition for both staff and existing members.

In addition to Gladstone’s core Plus2 Membership Management software and Connect online booking, which was up and running from day one, Sports Direct has bought into a range of support systems including the prospecting tool, Contact Manager, Gladstone’s new analysis and business intelligence system, eyeQ, and Business Process Manager, which can automate business processes and reports.

Winston Higham, head of leisure at Sports Direct said: “With Gladstone’s experience and their help and support we were able to move each site over to our systems on the day of the handover, and so from day one our health clubs were using the the Plus2 Membership Management system and members were booking classes online via Connect.

“Gladstone also provided onsite support and training for each site on its first day of trading on our new system, which was supported with web sessions, specifically recorded to suit our operations.”

Tom Withers, Sales and Marketing Director for Gladstone said: “We are extremely proud to have been chosen to support this well-known high street retailer with membership management software for the roll out of its health club brand. We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure a smooth handover process from LA Fitness for both the Sports Direct Fitness.com staff and their members.”

The former LA Fitness sites include four in the Midlands, three in the South East, two in the North West, two in London, one in the South West and one in Scotland.

Sports Direct, which is controlled by Newcastle United FC owner Mike Ashley, has over 600 sports stores in Europe, including 400 in the UK and also owns sports brands such as Dunlop, Everlast and Slazenger.
