National advertising campaign aims to get more people moving with Parkinson’s
Parkinson’s UK and 1FitLife have announced the launch of a new outdoor advertising campaign to help more people enjoy an active life with Parkinson’s.
Called Together We Stay Active, the new campaign uses donated advertising space from Clear Channel UK and is designed to show what an active life with Parkinson’s can look like, and give more people the tools and confidence to enjoy an active lifestyle with the condition.
Together We Stay Active is part of Parkinson’s UK’s Physical Activity ambitions project, called Get Active Stay Active, which was launched in 2024 to deliver more resources, campaigns and signposting for the Parkinson’s community, or for anyone with a connection to Parkinson’s.
The new advertising campaign, launched in November, is just one of the ways Parkinson’s UK is promoting the benefits of physical activity and it is hoped even more people will be able to get active with the condition. It will run on outdoor digital advertising screens owned and managed by Clear Channel UK.
1FitLife has worked closely with Parkinson’s UK to create a new library of photography and videography assets for Together We Stay Active, which focus on a diverse and accessible range of physical activities, and it is hoped this will resonate with the Parkinson’s community in the future.
Together We Stay Active features people living with Parkinson’s being active in different ways to demonstrate that physical activity can be approachable, enjoyable and suited to individual preferences.
The campaign highlights six popular activities; walking football, table tennis, seated exercise, boxing, outdoor walking and home-based workouts, filmed at carefully chosen locations, including the Beacon of Light Leisure Centre in Sunderland and Sea Field Gardens in Bournemouth.
Jessica Overton, Managing Director at 1FitLife, said: “This campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of exercise for people living with Parkinson’s. Just two and a half hours of activity a week, from walking the dog to joining a local exercise class, can help people to better manage symptoms, lift their mood and improve overall wellbeing.
“Together We Stay Active uses compelling storytelling and features real people in authentic, everyday situations, participating in accessible and social activities. Having previously developed digital fitness programmes for Parkinson’s UK, we’ve seen firsthand the profound impact exercise can have on those living with Parkinson’s. Collaborating once again on the Together We Stay Active campaign was a truly rewarding experience. Listening to personal stories from individuals living with Parkinson’s underscored how transformative physical activity can be for improving lives.”
Anna Castiaux, Physical Activity Programme Lead at Parkinson’s UK said: “It’s been fantastic to work with the team from 1FitLife on our new Together We Stay Active campaign and I’m delighted to see the outdoor advertising across the UK.
“We are very grateful for the kind donation of advertising space from Clear Channel UK and to our fantastic Parkinson’s storytellers, including Brian, Shirley and Julia, among many others, who are all featured in the campaign and who gave up their time to be a part of the photography and filming sessions.
“Research has shown that being active on a regular basis can be one of the best ways to help people with Parkinson’s to manage their condition. For some, it can be as beneficial as medication. I personally hope that more members of the Parkinson’s community will see the new national advertising campaign and feel inspired to be active with the condition.”
