Mytime Active celebrates 21 years leading Team Bromley in London Youth Games

Mytime Active is celebrating 21 years supporting Team Bromley at the London Youth Games as they are crowned the 2026 ParaGames swimming champions at the leisure trust’s Spa at Beckenham.

In total, 76 young people from 13 London boroughs took part in the ParaGames swimming competition in May. Bromley claimed both boys’ and girls’ team gold, winning medals across a range of categories throughout the day.

The Bromley team included 15 young people aged between 12 and 17, with a range of different disabilities. The ParaGames were open to participants with a disability or impairment across five categories, from mild and severe learning disabilities to visual and hearing impairment.

Supporting the LYG

Mytime Active has been proudly supporting Team Bromley’s participation in the London Youth Games (LYG) since the trust’s inception 21 years ago, and the team has won the overall Jubilee Champions Trophy 12 times. The London Youth Games encompasses more than 30 competitions across 17 different sports, from athletics and basketball to cross country, swimming and BMX, as well as the ParaGames.

Louise Hills is Mytime Active’s sports and events manager and the Bromley borough LYG team organiser.

She says: “The 2026 ParaGames swimming competition once again highlighted the power of sport to build confidence, resilience and community. This is why Mytime Active remains dedicated to supporting Team Bromley’s annual bid for the Jubilee Champions Trophy. We’re proud to manage and support the team, offering up our facilities and our time for free.

“We build relationships with local partners, collaborate with schools and community groups, and work alongside our passionate volunteer coaches – last year we had more than 30 – to ensure our young people can access high level sport and all the excitement that brings.

“The London Youth Games is an immense opportunity for young people across London to access empowering sporting experiences, bringing together participants of different levels and abilities to showcase their skills, learn from one another, and compete in an inclusive environment. It offers opportunities they may not otherwise receive, while allowing many to compete at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park using the same facilities as their sporting heroes.”

As a thank you for their time, Mytime Active is offering each volunteer coach a free annual membership across all its leisure facilities.

Hills says: “The London Youth Games wouldn’t be what it is without the volunteer coaches, who dedicate so much time and effort to supporting the young people of Bromley. The Games is more than just a sports event, it has a huge positive impact in our local communities, giving young people the opportunity to be part of a winning team.”

Mytime Active also hosts an annual celebration event at the end of every season to thank the young competitors and volunteer coaches. Each year, the Trust invites along a sporting hero who previously competed in the London Youth Games to give an inspirational speech.
