Lifetime Training aids ‘talent initiative’ development at GLL with new qualification

Lifetime Training is working with leisure trust GLL, a national leading charitable social enterprise and the largest leisure operator in the UK, to develop its staff’s core management skills.

The ILM accredited Level 3 Award in Effective Management features four face-to-face workshops and an accompanying webinar. The innovative course, which was launched by the award winning training company in July 2015, is endorsed by CIMSPA the gatekeeper for educational standards.

The qualification helps to provide front line managers, supervisors and middle management with core skills to help support the management of projects, budgets and small teams. In addition, attendees are required to complete a ‘workplace’ project to demonstrate their theoretical understanding of these principals and the practical application of them within the organisation.

Both courses immerse attendees in the development of problem solving and effective decision-making, evolving fundamental skills to aid effective management.

Lifetime has tailored the workshops for two different areas of GLL’s workforce, providing specific skills and solutions to aid the progression of a variety of roles.

The first ‘suite’ of workshops aids Duty Managers and Supervisors to cultivate their understanding of innovation and change, leadership and delegation in the workplace, as well interpretation of costs and budgets within the organisation and managing workplace projects.

The second, for Support Services, focuses on understanding how to lead effective meetings, managing people and relationships as well as leading and motivating a team and performance management.

Lorraine Patrinos, Associate Director of Learning and Organisational Development at GLL, said: “At GLL, we’ve always been focused on staff learning and development and encourage people at all levels to strive to achieve more. Partnering with Lifetime Training has enabled us to offer a dedicated talent initiative for our Duty Managers and Support Services. Investing in our staff and offering them continuous development to drive their careers forward is important for us to maintain an engaged, retained and happy workforce. Already an employer of choice in the leisure industry, initiatives such as this will help to extend our reputation even further.”

Lifetime Training’s Commercial Director, Mike Jones, commented: “At Lifetime, our focus is on quality training and education coupled with innovation. We’re absolutely committed to supporting employers in the sector to develop the leadership capability of their workforce through our CIMSPA endorsed leadership and management qualifications. The development of these courses aims to help aspiring leaders and talented individuals drive their careers forward for a successful managerial role in the active leisure sector.”
