Impulse’s Lancing Manor Leisure Centre receives Silver PACT Award

Parents and carers of children and young people with disabilities and additional needs in West Sussex can now choose Lancing Manor Leisure Centre with confidence. The Centre has passed an assessment process carried out by the Parent Carer Team from the West Sussex Parent Carer Forum (WSPCF) and been awarded a Silver PACT Award.

The Parent and Carer Team PACT Award recognises excellence. It rewards the places and services in West Sussex that are family friendly and have actively considered the inclusion of children and young people with disabilities or additional needs.

The PACT Award is a pilot project and Lancing Manor Leisure Centre’s Silver Award is one of the first of this new scheme. The West Sussex Parent Carer Forum will be officially launching the scheme later this year and inviting all providers to take part as a way to demonstrate that they offer excellence in the provision of services for children and young people with disabilities or additional needs.

Lancing Manor Leisure Centre was commended for its welcoming staff, excellent safety procedures and good accessibility for all users.

Andi Dunstan, Contracts Manager at Impulse Leisure, says: “The PACT Award doesn’t focus on the same things as other quality assessments. It concentrates on the types of things that parents of children with disabilities really want – and need – from an organisation. Things like safety, communication, staff attitude and involvement, inclusion and participation. Getting silver is a great achievement and it also gives us the incentive to put in place an action plan and press on and achieve gold.”

Jane Binns, PACT Awards Project Manager at the WSPCF says: “It’s an award made by parent carers for parent carers, to help them make informed choices about which services they use for their children. It focuses on areas that families have told us are most important to them when choosing a service including staff attitude, environment, safety, communication, information and feedback, involvement, inclusion and participation and policies and procedures.”
