GymWorks Spins Ahead – The first UK club to install Precor Spinner Rally bikes

GymWorks in Chorley, Lancashire is the first club in the UK to introduce Precor’s new Spinner® Rally bikes to its Spinning studio.

The independent gym has replaced its existing 26 cycles with 31 new Spinner Rally bikes, with extremely positive feedback since the upgrade. With bike space always in demand the gym has added additional Spinning classes to the timetable, now offering three a day.

Peter Guy, Director at GymWorks, comments: “The new Precor Spinner Rally bikes really raise the bar of the fitness experience we offer our members. They love the riding position, as well as the cadence, RPM, data feedback and distance features. The buzz the bikes have created is extremely favourable and we’ve even had members re-join the gym because of them. We’re also benefitting from raised attendance levels, which will have a positive impact on retention in the long-run.”

Experienced cyclist and certified Spinning instructor at GymWorks, Graham Brock, explains: “The bikes provide an authentic ride which is smooth and exciting for members and instructors alike. As a proficient cycling competitor and certified Spinning Instructor I’ve been able to use the Spinner Rally bikes to provide ‘race night’ classes, which enable participants to feel what a road cycle race is really like. These have been really well received and are fun for all abilities.”

The first in a series of three bikes to be introduced to the indoor cycling market, the Spinner® Rally delivers a top-of-the range performance bike and includes brand new engineering and design components. Showcasing an aluminium frame and designed to ride like an outdoor road bike, it features geometry and adjustments to suit a wide range of riders while providing a personalised experience.

Guy continues: “Our philosophy is to provide our members with the best gym experience they can possibly have by providing high quality equipment and high-level, energetic teachers. Precor equipment exceeds expectations and we continue to improve our offering to meet our members’ needs. Coupled with a relatively low cost membership, this sets us apart from our competitors.”

Each bike at Gymworks has been fitted with a Spinning Studio console, which automatically pairs with any ANT+™ compatible heart rate monitor. The console also features a large backlit display indicating cadence (pedal RPM), heart rate/pulse, time, distance and calories along with a low battery indicator.

Guy explains: “Members love knowing how fast they are going, how far they are riding and how long it’s taking them. It’s one of the key features of the bike, along with the smooth ride, that they comment on.”

Justin Smith, Head of UK at Precor states: “The new Spinner® Rally bikes really accentuate the high-quality offering at GymWorks. The bikes personalise the Spinning experience and this complements the way the club works with its members.”

Since opening three years ago, the gym has increased its original 13,000 sq ft floor space significantly, installing two mezzanine levels and converting other functional space.
