Createability starts work on GLL’s Better Gym Stratford

Createability has started work on its third GLL Better Gym. The no contract, low-cost offering, Better Gym, Stratford, is located in the heart of East Village in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, just a stone’s throw from Westfields Shopping Centre and Stratford International Station, situated above a Sainsbury’s Local.

The leisure design and build specialists are creating a 10,000 sq f health club with 130 Technogym stations, a functional training area with an XCube functional frame and a free weights zone with dumbbells up to 40 kg, squat racks, bench presses, a lifting platform and Technogym pure strength plate loaded machines.

The gym will also feature a 2,000 sq f studio offering a range of classes including cardio, aerobics, dance, HIIT, strength, calm, Spinning and circuits, a stretch area, changing rooms and one small office for the gym team, which will be used for admin and management. Security access turnstiles are being fitted to enable entry.

The £900,000 gym is due to open on 10 August. Ongoing membership will cost £28.95 a month and will include access to all group exercise classes, however, pre-opening prices start from £14.50. Members can access any GLL Better venue, centre or pool by paying a small £3 access fee for each visit, although full unlimited access to all Better Gyms, centres and pools is available with a Better Health and Fitness UK membership for £55 a month.

Ian Cotgrave, Managing Director of Createability said: “We have been working with GLL for more than 20 years and this is the third GLL Better Gym that we have helped to create. The previous projects in Sidcup and Romford have proved exceptionally successful and I am certain that the location of this new offering, in the heart of the Olympic Park, combined with its intuitive design and layout, mean Better Gym Stratford will swiftly follow suit.”

Guntis Uzarins, General Manager for Better Gym Stratford said: “Better Gym Stratford has been carefully designed around our passion for fitness and focuses on offering world class fitness equipment at an affordable price. It will offer self service sign up and fast track access as well as showers, spacious changing rooms and lockers to create easy-access to exercise for local residents and workers.”
