Bigwave media tackles new area for clients with appointment of Theresa England

Bigwave media will be helping clients to increase secondary revenue and tackle the obesity crisis on a local level through targeted food and beverage strategies and procurement.

The new service offering comes as Theresa England is announced as the leisure marketing agency’s Contract and Partnerships Manager. England joins from 1Life Management Solutions, where she worked as National Head of Food and Beverage and more recently Regional Director, with full commercial and operational responsibility for 14 leisure facilities and significantly improved client engagement.

England’s main focus will be to support clients in strategically expanding their food and beverage income. The service has already received considerable interest, including Broxbourne Council, South Kesteven District Council, East Renfrewshire Council and 1Life.

“The food and beverage offering in main stream leisure is often quite poor, both from a consumer’s point of view and in terms of driving a commercial return for operators,” said England. “We are hoping to change this, helping operators to improve their product, pricing and marketing so they can make a contribution in terms of people’s choices, but also towards the health and wellbeing of their community.

“Many operators see food and beverage as a necessary evil, but it can tick a lot of health and wellbeing outcomes. For instance, getting children into morning sessions with a healthy breakfast before school or properly fed after school before their swim lesson. There is a clear evidence base for this. We can help operators hit those outcomes and create a lucrative revenue stream too.”

England brings strong project management across a range of operational functions. She has a proven record in achieving client objectives and developing successful strategies. Her extensive leisure-focused background will be a particular asset to Bigwave’s client base.

Sales Director, Nick Masson said: “Theresa has fitted seamlessly into the business development team and we look forward to her using her considerable expertise to grow our clients’ businesses in this new, but very important area that ticks so many boxes for leisure operators.”

England’s appointment marks another significant milestone for Bigwave media, which recently appointed former Star Trac Sales Manager, James Anderson, to the role of Head of Business Development.
