Manor House Alsager

BC SoftWear helps create rustic luxury at Manor House Alsager

Family-owned independent hotel Manor House Alsager completed its English Country spa garden last autumn. An ambitious development, it expanded the spa offering to combine modern wellness experiences with quintessential country garden planting.

Spa facilities include a spa pool, open-air vitality pool, sunken table-top hydrotherapy tub, steam room and a heated outdoor sensory seating area. New for 2023 and a UK first, the hotel added a swim-up bar in the dual-aspect orangery-style pool house.

The 2,000 sqm garden spa also has a panoramic laconicum with swing seats that overlook the fields beyond, a salt steam inhalation chamber, the potting shed herbal sauna and an ice plunge bath and shower experience.

General manager Jess Mellors selected BC SoftWear for all the hotel and spa’s robe and towelling needs.

“Our spa consultant Claire Caddick is a long-term fan of BC SoftWear’s products. As she knew we wanted the quality of our towelling to match the high standards in the rest of the spa, she recommended BC SoftWear to us,” she says.

“Throughout the last two years we have seen Manor House Alsager develop into something so wonderful, with one-of-a-kind features.

BC SoftWear’s towels are such good quality and it’s extra special as they’ve provided us with something very different to the standard leisure towel, for use around the pool.

“Their Lido towels perfectly match the cushions in our pool area; they have become a signature part of the spa’s charm.

“The spa at Manor House Alsager is rustic and individual. The emphasis is on comfort and warmth in the outdoor space. Because the majority of our spa experiences outside, warm robes are a high priority item for us. BC SoftWear’s cosy robes give us a high-end, luxury edge and, because everything is bespoke and embroidered, it’s exactly the look we want.”

Wider branding

In the spa, BC SoftWear supplies head hole and treatment towels, embroidered blankets and robes. Manor House Alsager also has a bespoke flip flop, matching the blue and white stripes of the Lido towel.

“I like the bespoke aspect of embroidery; having our logo on robes is great free advertising, especially when people post images of themselves at the spa on social media,” adds spa manager, Hannah Swain. “It’s all part of our wider branding and we’ve had nothing but excellent feedback.

“We send our towels to external laundries and I’ve been impressed with how well they wash – the quality stays the same, they haven’t become rough or thin.

“In the treatment room, because the towels don’t absorb as many oils, we’ve noticed they stay much softer. Plus, because the robes are quick drying, if we have any laundry issues we can easily wash and dry them in house.”

Meeting demand

Mellors adds: “The speed with which BC SoftWear can turn around deliveries is great – we had to ramp up quite quickly and unexpectedly. They were very responsive and always happy to help.”

After an issue with theft of robes, BC SoftWear is now providing a solution.

“One month we had more than 50 robes stolen, so we knew we had to do something to counter theft,” says Mellors. “BC SoftWear are now putting security tags in the hem of robes and towels for us, so guests can’t steal them. It’s been a game changer.”
