Anytime Fitness Opens in Ruislip

The world’s largest 24-hour fitness club chain, Anytime Fitness, has opened in Ruislip Manor. The gym is located near the tube station, in a thriving regenerated area that was relaunched by Boris Johnson back in 2014.

Franchisee Matthew Capp was looking for a new challenge having worked in the City for 30 years. Passionate about fitness and, having always played sports, he decided to open an Anytime Fitness club.

The site, originally a public house and more recently a vacant retail unit, has been extensively remodelled and now features a state-of-the-art 4,500sq ft fitness suite. The gym floor showcases 16 pieces of Precor cardiovascular equipment, including newly launched Next-Generation treadmills, all connected with Preva networked fitness, along with 13 stations of Precor Vitality Series strength equipment, two multi-stations, two Icarian power-cages, four plate-loaded pieces and a Smith machine.

The floor layout, designed by Precor, naturally flows from front to back with the cardiovascular zone at the forefront, resistance machines located behind and a dynamic free-weights area at the rear. The fitness facility also features a multi-purpose room for PT use, as well as an area for stretching and circuit training.

Capp comments: “Precor worked with us on the gym design from the early stages and we are extremely happy with their plan, which was well thought out and cost effective. The Precor sales team recommended the machines needed for the launch, as well as options that could be added at a later date, along with suggestions on where the equipment expansions could be made. All this was extremely important for early stage cash-flow management.”

With a membership of over 600, and growing, the gym recently took part in the Precor AMT Challenge and is looking to offer similar competitions on a regular basis.

Capp continues: “We chose Precor equipment not only because it looks fantastic but each piece operates smoothly and is manufactured to the highest quality. The instructions are clear and presented in a way that is easy for members to understand and use.”

Justin Smith, Head of UK at Precor states: “Matthew is enthusiastic and committed to the fitness industry and with his business experience recognises the benefits that Preva networked fitness will bring in terms of management information and increasing customer retention. In only a few short months the gym is already ahead of its membership target and will, no doubt, continue to grow.”

The gym is open 24-hours, seven days a week and is staffed between 10am to 8pm Monday through Friday, 10am to 5pm Saturdays and 10am to 4pm Sundays.
