active-net offers leg up for new businesses

active-net is offering a leg up for new businesses with the launch of Start-UP, an annual competition that will see one new supplier offered a free* place worth £2,000 at the business networking event each year.

Launched in 2014 and managed by Leisure-net, the leading customer insight provider for the active leisure sector, active-net brings together leading operators and suppliers for business-focused, pre-selected meetings, together with informative educational slots, networking lunches and an evening meal.

The competition winner will be guaranteed 14 one-to-one meetings with public sector buyers, the opportunity to network with 150 sector professionals, entry into the active-net directory and social media coverage via @_activenet.

The 2017 event will take place on 29-30 March at Eastwood Hall in Nottingham, a beautiful period property set in 26 acres of spectacular grounds, just a short drive from Nottingham City Centre. The educational element of the conference will be themed around workforce development and include a panel discussion with Stephanie Maurel, the Strategic Lead for People at Sport England, CIMSPA CEO, Tara Dillion and Marcus Kingwell, Managing Director of AoC Sport.

93% of active-net 2016 attendees have said they are likely to attend the 2017 event. Robin Mc Gloughlin, Business development Director of Poolview Limited, who has attended active-net for two years running, is no exception. He said: “Due to the great network created by Mike and David of Leisure-net and the support that the sport and physical activity sector has given active-net, the event has consistently been a resounding success.

“Each year it has given us the opportunity to interact with new potential clients, open doors and form relationships that are almost impossible to achieve through direct contact in such as short space of time and so this is a fantastic opportunity for the winning start-up business.”

“We are looking for a new business supplying products or services to the sport and physical activity industry, primarily the public sector, with less than one year of trading,” said David Monkhouse, Director of Leisure-net. “As well as benefitting from all that the two-day event has to offer, the Start-UP winner will get to sit on the committee to help select the next new business for active-net 2018.”

Entrants must have traded for less than a year on 29 March 2017, first day of active-net 2017. The closing date for entries is 31 October 2016 and any companies wishing to take part should contact David Monkhouse on 01603 814233 or email davidmonkhouse@leisure-net.org for an application form and full terms and conditions.

* The winning company will receive a free place at the event, but will need to make a contribution to the cost of accommodation and food and beverages.
